IAG are walking to raise funds for pancreatic cancer, a cause which is close to our hearts.

The IAG community has been significantly impacted by pancreatic cancer with both Megan’s Mum and Emma-Lee’s Dad losing their life to this devastating disease in recent years.

Pancreatic cancer currently accounts for approx. 3% of all cancers, however, it is the 3rd leading cause of cancer deaths in Australia and is expected to soon overtake colon cancer as the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths behind lung cancer.

This is because pancreatic cancer is infamously hard to treat and is often referred to as the ‘silent killer’ as most patients don’t experience symptoms until the cancer has metastasised and spread to surrounding organs.

Even if considerable progress was made in the development of methods for early detection, treatments would still need to drastically improve to result in a favourable prognosis for patients. Unfortunately, treatments have made little progress over the last 50 years as a result of limited funding.

Put Your Foot Down is a charity walk raising funds for PanKind - the only foundation in Australia exclusively dedicated to pancreatic cancer, who’s mission is to triple the survival rate of pancreatic cancer by 2030, improving on the current 5-year survival rate of just 12%.

Please support us as we endeavour to effect change by raising much needed funds for PanKind. Together we can make an impact on those currently living with the disease and provide hope for those who are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in future.
